How to choose a resume template

One column or two?

Every template here exports a text-based PDF, so a parser reads words rather than a picture. The difference is reading order: a single column can only be read one way, while a two-column page depends on the parser following the layout correctly. If a posting matters a lot to you, a single-column design is the safer bet.

Should the resume carry a photo?

It depends entirely on where you are applying — normal in much of Europe, discouraged in the US, UK and Canada. Seven of these designs keep a place for one; the rest ignore the field, so you can leave it filled in and simply pick a template that does not print it.

What if you pick the wrong one?

Nothing is locked in. The template, its colour theme and its font are all switchable from the editor while you write, and your content stays where it is. Pick the one you like the look of and change your mind later.

Not sure what to put in it?

Read a resume example written for a role like yours, then bring the wording back into the template you picked.

The template, its colours and its font all change from inside the editor, and nothing you have written is lost when they do.
